SACRIFICE

Author: Pastor Al Pittman
Every brick God lays for His house, is a life designed to bring Him “glory.” We are those “living stones.” Peter defines our purpose, as the Church of Jesus Christ in the world today. We are to “come to Him” who is “precious” in our sight although rejected by the world. We are “being” built up as a “spiritual house,” we are in the process of bringing Christ “glory,” we have not arrived; we are still learning. We are to offer an “acceptable sacrifice” through faith in Christ. The question we must ask ourselves is this; Do I perform the task assigned to me, in a manner “acceptable” to the Lord? Let us keep in mind the fact that this is “His house,” we are His “masonry” work, held together with “love.” Therefore, rather than being “dead stones,” through self-seeking, and envy**(James 3:16);** let us strive to offer our Father an “acceptable sacrifice” as “living stones,” through acts of “sacrificial love.”

Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:4-5

But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.” Colossians 3:14
