DECEPTION

Author: Pastor Al Pittman
The information provided below (article and video) exposes the fact that John Paul Jackson’s ministry originated out of the IHOP (International House of Prayer) movement in Kansas City, which is considered a ministry which has produced many “false prophets.” Mr. Jackson’s assumption (on his video) that prophets do not have to 100% correct in their prophecy, is heretical. To believe so, is to say God makes “mistakes.” His comparison of the pastoral ministry, (according to the video link below) is comparing apples to oranges. A “prophetic ministry,” which Paul calls a gift of wisdom or knowledge (1 Corinthians 12:8), in the New Testament sense, speaks of teaching or speaking forth a prophetic word, (the Word of God), 1 Corinthians 14:1-5; 24, 25. In times past men and women of God were used as mouth pieces for the Lord to speak to Israel and other nations; but now, in Christ, the fullness of the Godhead has been revealed in Christ and we are “complete” in him, (Colossians 2:9, 10).

The Greek word for “prophesies” is propheteuo (prof-ate-yoo’-o); meaning: to foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office. (New Exhaustive Strong’s Numbers and Concordance). These prophesies given through the proclamation of the word, or a word of knowledge or wisdom, must be in agreement with the “whole counsel” of God’s word. We must guard ourselves against so-called “new” revelations.

1 John 4:1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. NKJV

1 Timothy 4:1-3

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron. NKJV

2 Timothy 4:3-4

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. NKJV

There are times when God may speak to His people through dreams and visions, (Joel 2:28); but those dreams and visions are subject to the “already” revealed word of God, fully manifested in Christ! God now speaks to His church and the world through the revelation of His Son. We do not need a “new revelation” or “fresh word!” Christ is the fullness of God’s revelation (John 1:1, 14).

Hebrews 1:1-3

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;  who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. NKJV

John 16:13-15

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.  All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. NKJV

Indeed He (Holy Spirit) has done this; as the revelation of things to come has indeed been revealed not only by the prophets of old, but to the New Testament apostles. as well. But He will “glorify” Me, rather than glorify a “technique” or “formula.” We are to be led by the Spirit of God, He is our ultimate teacher and guide. The “notion” that prophecy dose not have to be 100% accurate opens the door to heretical teachings and the doctrine of demons.

I hope this information has been helpful. Based on the “false” assumptions of this so-called prophet John Paul Jackson, I cannot recommend his ministry and would “strongly” urge you to disassociate yourself with his teachings. There’s no doubt that some of the things taught are biblically sound; however, remember, a “half-truth” is always a “whole lie!” We are all growing and learning in Christ, but “immaturity” is never an excuse for “false” claims regarding the Holy Spirit and Word of God. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead us into all “truth,” not half-truths.

Be Sober and Vigilant, For His Glory,

Deuteronomy 4:23-24
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. NKJV

Psalm 138:2
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. NKJV
